Three things are necessary to survive in today’s modern world: food, shelter, and clothing. Unfortunately, there are those who cannot afford these necessities. I feel that homelessness is one of the world’s biggest problems because if everyone had these needs, there would be no more fighting. If everyone is content, there is no reason to complain. Although, those who are more fortunate give millions of dollars every year, it is not enough to completely abolish this problem. If homelessness were gone, world peace would be achieved.
Many people who feel homelessness is a major issue have opened homeless shelters and soup kitchens. The Covenant House is the biggest privately funded charity in the U.S. for providing food, shelter, medical care, and services to homeless, abandoned and runaway kids. They have saved over one million kids. Covenant House is currently a member of the NGO (Non-Government Organization). They have saved and changed the lives of many people and intend to continue these heroic acts.
If we were to give 1 million dollars to every homeless person on the planet, it would cost over 100 trillion dollars. We would need a way to broadcast this through the media to obtain worldwide donations. Realistically, we would not be able to raise 100 trillion dollars. This is why we would help educate the homeless so they could find jobs and provide for themselves. Finally, with the money we had after paying for education and broadcasting, we would open organizations and shelters around the world to feed and care for the homeless.
Obviously we will not be able to save all of the homeless alone, but working together there is a good chance we can. Every extra person we save is success for us. Imagine what our world would be like without homelessness. Hopefully, little by little we can abolish this tragedy. We need to keep helping and providing for the underprivileged and stay strong. Persistence is the answer to stopping homelessness.
